Psychological Services

Psychotherapy is a process of open communication between you and your doctor in a safe and confidential setting. Psychotherapy has both benefits and risks. Risks sometimes include experiencing uncomfortable feelings such as sadness, guilt, anxiety, anger, frustration, loneliness and helplessness in order to be freed from repeating dysfunctional patterns thereby allowing you to grow and gain insight into your behavior. Psychotherapy has also been shown to have lasting benefits for people’s mental health. In long term studies, these improvements are shown to be more beneficial and last longer than those produced by medications. Therapy often leads to improved health outcomes, healthier relationships, resolution of personal problems and a significant reduction in feelings of distress. I am comfortable working with your doctor, school or other parties to maximize your treatment success.

A Typical Session

Our first session will involve an evaluation of your history, needs and goals. I will be then able to recommend an initial treatment plan to follow. Typical brief therapy, requires between 6 and 10 sessions to complete. Longer treatment may be indicated, based upon the diagnosis and a complicated medical history. Therapy involves a commitment of time, money and energy on your part. On my part, I am always happy to discuss any questions or concerns about my procedures and engender to facilitate improved mind/body functioning for greater personal fulfillment and satisfaction. I will be happy to refer you for a second opinion or seek a consultative evaluation by another professional to enhance your treatment. You have the right to terminate therapy at any time.

Adults and Families

I respect the multiple commitments adults are engaged in and thereby realize the sacrifice and the flexibility needed to choose to better their own lives while juggling the responsibilities of work and family.
